A single female figure — a Tang dynasty lady — stands in profile at the lower-right, gazing toward the upper-left. She is rendered in just eight brush strokes: the curve of her back, the fall of her robe, the tilt of her head, the suggestion of her hair pinned high. No facial features — only the silhouette. Her robe is painted in pale gray wash with darker charcoal accents at the sleeves and hem, the fabric suggested by flowing, gestural strokes.
